I have more of a traditional approach to quilting and sometimes need to be pushed to get out of my comfort zone. Mid's new blocks have really inspired me to perhaps try something with Batiks. These blocks are amazing! The sampler patterns that we both are using are classic; Basket and Ohio Star. From my stash, I am using more traditional fabric designs she is using up her stash of batiks.
I really must finish using fabric from my old stash of which quite a bit is vintage. Maybe a batik project one of these days! I am inspired for sure!
When times get tough, quilting always helps. This really cheered up my day!
See the post, Mix and Match Mirror Quilting With Mid, for the complete list of Mid's sampler blocks so far.
Batik fabrics are a bit harder to hand quilt. I think it requires a sharper needle. I will use the rest of my left over batiks to make more sample quilt blocks.
ReplyDeleteI think it is bold to use batik fabrics for classic sampler blocks, a modern twist. If I use batiks at all, they will be machine pieced for sure. I love these color!
DeleteDid you see my error? I corrected it.
ReplyDeleteIs one triangle in the top hourglass a darker color?
