Gelato Bird Print

I was able to cut 20 blocks from the bird print in a manner that positions a bird in each block. Thankfully, there was one FQ of the bird print in my bundle. The picture of the Gelato layout shows a bird in many of the bird blocks; however, they are in the diamond orientation. If cutting the bird print as instructed, the bird may or may not be the center as shown in the picture! Since I want to have a bird in each block, I made a template from card stock 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches and used that to mark each bird block. Then I cut each piece individually with scissors and squared up each block on the cutting board. I was barely able to get 20 blocks and two blocks are a little wonky looking. I can live with that.

This is a beautiful quilt design, but I find that sometimes the quilting instructions for some quilt patterns do not address pertinent details. Nevertheless, I appreciate the work that the designer put into this quilt.
