Mason's quilt is designed with a sports themed fabric of his favorite team, consisting of red, gold, and white fabrics that flank the sports theme panel. I needed to improvise as the design did not work well for what I wanted to do. Since I had already cut the sports fabric, which is a sports theme panel, I needed to change what was going to border it! Initially I tried to incorporate some purple fabric but that did not show well. Luckily the gold and white blocks look great with it, and the red frame really sets off the tiny specks of red in the fabric.
The next step will be layering the top, batting, and the backing. This quilt will be finished using gold fabric for the binding.
I hope he likes it.
