The quilting was done professionally on Long Arm Machines. We applied our binding by hand.

The Quilting Connection

As a little girl, one of my hated daily chores after school was stitching a straight line into a Rag Quilt. My mother sewed our clothes and every winter she would make a Rag Quilt from left over fabrics. The top, cotton batting and backing layers, stretched across, and tacked to a make-shift wooden quilt frame, supported by chairs would occupy the entire room until fully quilted. There were six daughters and we all had to contribute so many lines of quilting, every day after school. Later in life, about mid 1970s I developed an interest in Hand Quilting and never stopped. Mostly I am drawn to Hand Quilting, and this kept me connected to my mother. Finally, now, I am learning to navigate Sewing Machine Quilting. I have found so much enjoyment in all things quilting and hope to share the things that I have learned over the years about quilting.

Mid's Projects - Another Queens Quilt!

This is Mid's second Queens Quilt and I think this one will be a wall hanging. I have to make a Queens Quilt one of these days. It is Sew beautiful! Queens

Friendship Knot Quilt - We have an update already!

We started on the Friendship Knot quilt this week. It is not coming across so friendly at this point, but I believe it will be fine once we work out the pattern kinks. Today we reached an impasse with cutting the curved blocks. Quilters should be hesitant to purchase new gadgets because they are not always as helpful as they seem. I am hoping that my oval ruler will be useful in marking and cutting. I purchased this ruler a couple of years ago for another project which I have not completed yet. I might need a class just to understand how it works! In the meantime, I am going to use an old school solution. Cardboard! Templates from sturdy cardboard will work just fine and at least I can get going with cutting the squares.
